Mobile Music

Mobile Music. There's no doubt about it, if you're not carrying every album you own around with you, then you're just not serious about music.

It seems you can't leave the house without tripping over an MP3 player these days, but which is the best? and why? We've done a quick whip around the store and asked staff to rate their favourite player.

Note the views and opinions expressed are not those of Melbourne IT.

iPod

available from: just about everywhere

1 part music player 9 parts fashion accessory. There's no doubting that Apple are responsible for the MP3 player craze. But is it any good?

"I've seen blogs and forums where people complain about how their nano has broken down or stopped for no good reason, I've never had any problems and would recommend an iPod to anyone."

Zen

available from: select retailers

Creative's answer to the all conquering iPod. Larger, slightly heavier and not nearly as sexy.

"Sure it doesn't have a spunky click-wheel, but the user interface is easy to use, the sound is good and it's a lot cheaper than the same sized iPod."
Steven - (somewhat defensively) in merchandising

Zune

available from: next Christmas

Microsoft may have come late to the game, but just because everyone else has already done it hasn't stopped Bill. The Zune promises to revolutionise the digital media market. When it's released. Eventually.

"I've already pre-ordered and paid for my Zune last Christmas. When it arrives Christmas 2008 I'll have the coolest MP3 player there is...probably."
Josh - (fingers crossed) in Distribution.

"I don't own an MP3 player. I refuse to. I still think that music sounds best when played on vinyl and no one can convince me otherwise"
